Mr. Pierre was born in Archaie, Haiti on March 23, 1969. He immigrated to the United States in 1983, he attended high school and college in Long Island, New York. He received his Bachelors Degree in Engineering from New York Institute of Technology in 1994, and obtained his law degree from the University of Miami in 1997. While in law school, he served as a clerk to the Honorable Melvia Green at the Third District Court of Appeal in Florida. He subsequently worked at the intellectual property law firm of Lott and Friedland, P.A.
In 1997, Mr. Pierre opened the Law Office of Andre D. Pierre, P.A. and continued in that practice until becoming a partner with Douthit, Murray & Pierre, P.A. in 2003. In Januray of 2008, Mr. Pierre reopened the Law Office of Andre D. Pierre, P.A. He practices in the areas of criminal law and heads the firm’s immigration law practice.
As an immigration practitioner, Mr. Pierre has devoted more than 80% of his practice to Immigration and Nationality Laws of the United States. He has represented more than 500 asylum seekers. He has filed hundreds of Family and Employment based petitions and prepared K1 petitions, application for work authorizations, etc. Mr. Pierre has aggressively defended criminal aliens in deportation/removal proceedings.
Mr. Pierre has defended Mr. Lionel Jean-Baptiste where the Government attempted to revoke his Naturalization. The case is reported at Lionel Jean Baptiste v. United States of America, 395 F.3d 1190 (11th Cir. 2005). A petition for Writ of Certiorari was denied by the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mr. Pierre is an adjunct member of the faculty at Barry University, teaching Immigration and Nationalization Law, Real Estate Law and Business Organizations. As an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Mr. Pierre has lectured extensively throughout South Florida on criminal convictions and their immigration consequences.
Mr. Pierre served as Chairman of the Greater North Miami Chamber of Commerce and has served on their Executive Board for the past 5 years. He is a past Vice President of the Haitian Lawyers Association and an active member of the Dade County Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Haitian American Engineers and Scientist Society.
Mr. Pierre was appointed by the Mayor of the City of Miami to serve on the Civilian Investigative Panel Nominating Committee. In 2005, he was appointed by Commissioner Jeffery Allen to serve on the Community Relations Board. He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Society of Black Engineers and has served as a mentor for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
He is the author of several articles on intellectual property law in such publications Res Ipsa Loquitur, Miami Times, Haitech and the National Society of Black Engineers Bi-Weekly Journal.
Mr. Pierre is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida. He is also admitted to practice law before the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.
